Registration Continues at the Florida Air Museum at Sun 'n Fun

SUN ’N FUN CAMPUS, LAKELAND, Fla. – (June 7, 2007) – The Florida Air Museum at Sun ’n Fun is now accepting reservations for Destination Aviation and Space Camps for kids ages 7-18. The popular camps will enter their 6th season this year and are jam packed with aviation fun and the opportunity to apply learned skills in math, science, physics, technology and geography. Two categories of Summer Camp are offered with an option for day or residential camping. Partial scholarships are also available.

Space Camp is a basic half-day, week-long program for kids age 7-10. Kids will learn about planets, stars, space flight and will plan their space mission. They will even build and launch their own rocket!

Destination Aviation camps have a more advanced aviation curriculum for kids age 11-18. Campers learn about aerodynamics, navigation, weather and flight planning and will use flight simulators to practice skills before they are given an opportunity to actually fly an airplane with a certified flight instructor from FlightSafety International.  Destination Aviation camp sessions are each one week long and run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Sun ’n Fun signed an education agreement with FlightSafety International in February 2006 to provide aircraft and Certified Flight Instructors for their summer camp program. The agreement ensures the flight experience provided to camp students adheres to the most professional standards of flight training available.

Summer Camps begin June 11 and enrollment is ongoing. Fees are $70 for Space Camp, and $225 - $275 for Destination Aviation, and include daily snacks. Residential camps run concurrently with day camps and include evening programs, 24-hour supervision and all meals; fees are the applicable daily camp tuition plus $375. For more information, call the Florida Air Museum’s education department at 863-904-4073 or visit the website at www.floridaairmuseum.org.
