At Evergreen Aviation Museum

McMinnville, Ore. –Students, grades 1-10, are invited to join the adventure in June, July and August at the Evergreen Aviation Museum Summer Camps.  Featured camps include:  Aviation Academy, Elementary Day Camp, Space Exploration Camp, Rocketry Overnight Camp, Blast Off Day Camp and Aviation Day Camp.

The Museum is hosting six summer camps where students will have fun learning about the science and history of flight while building gliders, airplanes, rockets and flying radio controlled (RC) aircraft.  All of this will take place among the museum’s collection of over 80 historic aircraft and exhibits, as well as will include a film at the Evergreen IMAX® 3D Theater.  The line up of summer camps also includes two overnight camps in conjunction with Seattle’s Museum of Flight.  Students will spend the first part of the camp at the Evergreen Museum and then will travel to the Seattle Museum of Flight for the second day.

The Evergreen Aviation Museum is best known as the home of the world’s largest wooden airplane, the Spruce Goose, SR-71 Blackbird and Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat.  In addition, there are more than 80 historic aircraft and exhibits on display, along with artwork, traveling displays, the Evergreen IMAX® 3D Theater, the Spruce Goose Café and newly remodeled Rotors, Wings, and Things store.  The Evergreen Aviation Museum’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily except when it is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Easter. The Museum is located at 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, across the highway from the McMinnville Airport and about three miles southeast of McMinnville, Ore., on Highway 18.
